‘1933’ is the year when a popular Irani cafe in South Mumbai known as Cafe Military was established. Situated in the Fort area, this cafe has been named after the military. Furthermore, its decor is typically ‘Vintage’ in style and comprises of black wooden chairs and checkered tablecloths. In addition, this cafe earlier was popular with celebrities such as MF Hussain frequenting this joint often.

a. About Cafe Military:

Apparently, during the 1800’s the Fort Area where this cafe is located was filled with army and naval men, and hence this joint was named Military. It is owned by a Parsi named Behram Khoshravi, and is managed by his son Sheriyar Khoshravi, who visits the cafe every Friday.

The ambiance is typically ‘vintage’ with wooden black chairs, and hence provides you with a feeling of nostalgia. Furthermore, the food served over here is typically ‘Parsi’, and there are several delicacies that are popular and highly recommended. Some of them included are Sali Boti, Sali Chicken,Keema Pav, Chicken Masala Fry, Chicken Biryani, and Bhurji Pav. In terms of desserts, Caramel custard is extremely popular over here. With regards to drinks, no alcoholic beverages are served over here.
