Considered to be an “affluent” area in the city of Mumbai is a suburb known as Juhu. Located in West Mumbai, this suburb lies in close proximity to the Arabian Sea. Furthermore, Juhu is known to be “home” to several “Bollywood” stars. Now, this suburb is also known to be an extremely popular place to visit in Mumbai due to the presence of a number of hotspots. They are as follows:

a. ISKCON Temple:

Also known as “Sri Sri Rasabiharij” is a temple located in Juhu called Iskcon. Constructed in 1978 by Srila Prabhupada, this temple complex is dedicated to Lord Krishna and Radha. Furthermore, this complex basically comprises of the marble temple, a restaurant, an auditorium, and two seven storey guest houses. In addition, a number of cultural programs involving music and dance are often organized at this complex during festive occasions. Some of the artistes who have performed over here include Hema Malini, Ravi Shankar, Jagjit Singh, Protima Bedi, and Anup Jalota.

b. Juhu Beach:

In close proximity to this suburb lies the renowned Juhu Beach. Located alongside the Arabian Sea, this beach is extremely popular and attracts lakhs of visitors from around the country especially during the weekends and public holidays. Furthermore, this beach is known for several “food stalls” that serve us some delicious “Mumbai street food” such as bhel puri, pani puri, and shev puri.  In addition, on this beach visitors can enjoy a horse carriage ride on payment of a small fee. It is also a site where thousands of devotees arrive annually to immerse the idol of Lord Ganesh during the popular Ganesh Chaturthi festival.

c. Prithvi Theater:

Constructed by superstar Shashi Kapoor and his wife Jennifer, is a theater known as Prithvi. Built as a tribute to Prithviraj Kapoor (the father of Shashi), this theater was officially opened to the public on November 5th 1978. Located in an isolated spot in close proximity to the Juhu Beach, this theater is renowned for being the “hub” of what is known as “experimental” theater. This theater has also seen great artistes such as Om Puri, Pankaj Kapoor, and Nasseruddin Shah perform over the years. In addition, alongside this theater lie the “Prithvi Café” and book shop which are also extremely popular.

d. Hotels and Restaurants:

This suburb surrounded by “affluence” is also renowned for a number of five star hotels. A few popular ones include the JW Mariott, Sun-n-Sand Hotel, Novotel Hotel, Ramada Plaza Palm Grove, and Sea Princess. Furthermore, it is known for a number of restaurants such as Mahesh Lunch Home, Govinda Restaurant, Shiv Sagar Restaurant, Gajalee, and Alfredo’s.

e. Schools and Colleges:

In terms of education, this suburb is renowned for a number of popular schools such as Jamnabai Narsee School, St Joseph Convent High School, Utpal Shanghvi School, Maneckji Cooper Education Trust and Ecole Mondiale World School. Furthermore, renowned colleges such as Mittibai College, Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics, DJ Sanghvi College of Engineering, and Ritambhara College are also located in this suburb.

f. Jalsa Bungalow:

The bungalow where the family of the “Shahenshah of Bollywood” i.e. Amitabh Bachchan resides is known as Jalsa. This home to the biggest star in the Hindi Film Industry has over the years become a landmark in the city Mumbai. In fact, this bungalow is visited by many visitors across the country especially during Sunday evenings when the megastar himself greets his fans who gather outside.

So if you intend to enjoy beautiful sunset, some delicious street food, witness the aura of megastar Amitabh Bachchan, the creative atmosphere of Prithivi theater, or the serenity of ISKCON then Juhu is the suburb that must be visited.
